LAPHEAL STERLING
Fashion creator Lapheal Sterling has built a following around considered dressing and classic references. We spoke about routine, personal style, and the small details. From pressed clothes to that first sip of coffee.
On a clear-skied, busy Saturday afternoon on Teddington High Street, I met with Lapheal Sterling to talk through perception, personal discipline, and the small details that shape his sense of self.
I think a lot of people assume I’m an extrovert, that I’m always out partying. But honestly, I’m more of an introvert, just figuring things out.
I enjoy the quieter things. Training, going to the gym. Growing up I loved basketball, actually playing basketball. I like dressing up, looking good, taking pride in that. But most of the time I’m pretty chilled.
Probably when everything feels in order. My clothes are properly pressed, my shoes are extra clean. That does my OCD great.
Looking after myself is a big part of it too. Sleeping well, eating well. When those things are right, I feel more confident and naturally dress better as well.
Mornings are when I feel at my best. First coffee, lots of energy, ready to move. I’ve always loved Ralph Lauren. That Ivy League look, there's something about that college kid style with preppy clothes that has always stuck with me.
A world with a bit more peace. Everyone on even ground, everyone well dressed.
Maybe living somewhere with space. A beautiful farm, animals around, and a few puffy Pomeranians running about.
Just enjoying life with friends and family really, that's it.
A closing tune to my current mood:
